The founder and current Director Mohamood Mohamed established MMT in 1964. Mr. Mohamood started the company with one truck which he drove himself through central and east Africa for most of the 60’s into the 70’s. The company slowly grew and had four trucks by 1980. Mr. Mohamood was a very hand’s on manager and micro-managed every aspect of the company’s operations, including repairs and maintenance of the trucks.

By 1994, MMT had acquired a yard in the Saba Saba area and established this as the base of operation. By this time, the company had tripled in size to 34 trucks, and so as the size, MMT’S Reputation quickly grew into one of the most reliable and trustworthy companies in East Africa. Its reputation came from its drivers, who in an era of untrustworthiness, become symbols and the backbone of what companies even today, strive to be.

Today, the company has more than four hundred and forty trucks, with seventy percent of its fleet less than five years old. The company has more than five hundred employees and the red and white colors on its trucks are known all over central and east Africa as Tanzania’s best transporter. The company until today maintains its ‘open door policy’ with all the employees has resulted in the company’s unfounded success over the years. With the use of new advances in technology such as on-board computers and management systems such as ERP, the future is bright.

We have a comprehensive, highly structured safety program enforced by our operations teams. Our safety team is dedicated to ensuring and exceeding regulatory compliance. They undergo regular safety training and hold many safety certifications. They also assist with evaluating, training and observing our drivers to ensure safety compliance. We regularly use safety and maintenance field checks to eliminate accidents, injuries, and cargo losses, and maintain a high degree of professionalism among our drivers and terminal personnel.

Finally, the equipment and maintenance programs at MMT produce impeccable results. Regular preventive maintenance and high standards of cleanliness have given our fleet a reputation for having clean, well-maintained equipment. Also, most trucks at MMT are on a five-year trade cycle to ensure our equipment meets our safety technology standards, such as collision mitigation systems, air disc brakes and lane-departure detection.
